BL Anaerobic Culture (Biocultural)
An oxygen-free atmosphere is used to grow and cultivate microorganisms in a process known as anaerobic culture, often referred to as biocultural or anaerobic fermentation. Anaerobic cultures are utilised in a variety of disciplines, such as environmental sciences, biotechnology, and microbiology, to research and take use of anaerobic microbes’ metabolic potential.
In order to generate an oxygen-free environment for anaerobic bacteria to flourish, specific methods and tools are used in anaerobic cultivation. The use of specialized culture vessels or chambers, the inclusion of chemical oxygen scavengers, and the displacement of oxygen with inert gases like nitrogen or carbon dioxide are common ways to maintain anaerobic conditions.
