BL Glucoamylase

The enzyme known as glucoamylase, often referred to as amyloglucosidase or -glucosidase, catalyses the hydrolysis of starch and other similar carbohydrates. The 1,4 glycosidic linkages in starch are specifically targeted by it, and they are broken down into glucose molecules.

A complex polysaccharide called starch is made up of glucose units connected by -1,4 glycosidic linkages. The final stage of starch digestion involves the breakdown of the residual starch molecules into individual glucose molecules that may be readily absorbed and used by the body. Glucoamylase is an important enzyme in this process.
Numerous microorganisms, including fungus and bacteria, synthesise the enzyme glucoseamylase. Along with other industrial uses, the food and beverage sector frequently uses it.
Additionally, glucoamylase is used in the saccharification stage of the generation of biofuels
