BL Methane Rise

A powerful greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change and environment warming is methane (CH4). The term “methane rise” describes the gradual growth in atmospheric methane concentrations.
Concerns have been raised about the atmosphere’s methane concentrations recently rising. While methane has a more powerful warming effect over a shorter duration than carbon dioxide (CO2), which is the main greenhouse gas responsible for long-term climate change. Compared to CO2, methane is better at storing heat, but its atmospheric lifetime is shorter.
There are numerous natural and human-caused sources of methane emissions. Wetlands, termites, wildfires, and ruminant animals’ digestive processes are examples of natural sources. Through processes, human activities considerably increase methane emissions.
